Blepharoplasty - Eyelid Surgery Oxnard, Ventura
Eyelid Surgery or Blepharoplasty, offered at our Ventura County cosmetic surgery office, is one of the most common cosmetic surgery procedures performed today. The procedure can dramatically change the appearance of a person, making him or her look many years younger. Eye lift or eyelid lift addresses the droopy upper eyelids and puffy lower eyelid bags which are the first signs of facial aging that may be interpreted by others as tired, angry, and uninterested look. In today’s society, physical appearance is important in meeting new people and also excelling in your work environment.
Dr. Antoine Hanna, diplomate of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, performs Blepharoplasty in the surgical room of our office and it generally takes 1-2 hours. The recovery is minimal. The incisions are hidden in the natural creases above or below the eyelids so they can be completely invisible and camouflaged. The results are amazing! See for yourself!

Blepharoplasty is a general surgical term that includes many different procedures all aiming to improve and rejuvenate the eyes. It includes reducing the fatty bags of the lower eyelid through excision of the fat and removing the droopy and excess skin over the upper and lower eyelids.
Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty
This upper eyelid surgery is performed in our office under local anesthesia or I.V. sedation and generally takes between 1-2 hours. Dr. Hanna removes excess skin, muscle, and fatty tissue that tend to accumulate from the upper eyelids.
The upper eyelid surgery incision is hidden in the natural creases above the eyelids. One fine stitch is used to close the incision which will be removed subsequently.
The recovery from this procedure is minimal, stitches are removed in 5-6 days and the patient can resume normal activity within one week.
Lower Eyelid Blepharoplasty
The lower eyelid lift can be very effective at targeting the signs of tiredness and aging from the eyes by removing the excess fat and wrinkly skin. The latest advances in Blepharoplasty or eyelid rejuvenation involve conservative removal of herniated fat and skin. Dr. Hanna’s goal in eyelid surgery is to create a more youthful look and not a tight and operated one. For lower lids, we also use local anesthesia or I.V sedation with the procedure taking typically between 1-2 hours. In lower eyelid surgery, the bulging fatty tissue is removed through a transconjunctival approach which means that the surgery is performed through the inside part of the eyelid so that no external visible scar is created.
If Dr. Hanna finds that the patient has significant amount of skin drooping, then he might elect to perform the procedure through a transcutaneous approach which means that the incision is made in a crease about 1mm underneath the lash line so that it can be completely hidden and camouflaged. The excess fat and skin can be removed through the incision and a tiny absorbable stitch is placed to close the incision. Recovery is generally between 5-6 days.
Non-surgical Eye Rejuvenation or Volume Replacement
This is a minimally invasive procedure that improves dark circles, small lower lid bags, and hollows around the eyes without surgery. This procedure can be done by using dermal fillers (such as Restylane, Juvederm).
